I have such an affinity for small uniformed prints in red and blue set against almost white backdrops. This British Regency era dress from The Met Museum features a wonderful print (I wish there were close ups!) because perhaps this is an embroidered pattern and not a printed one? Ahh, one shall never know unless seen in person!

Where I'd Wear It Now

This antique dress again is decidedly modern and has that folky pastoral look I love. Paired with flat sandals, I'd wear this to go explore the quaint coastal town of Astoria, Oregon with a big sunhat.

Channel The Look

The most important aspect to nailing this look is the print. Look for cream or off white with tiny prints and pattern in muted reds. The pattern should be uniformed and not scattered. Other details to note are the delicate flounce hem on the sleeves and the wide neckline with ruffle detail.
